About the Role
Perform work up to and including journey level trades in motor vehicle maintenance and repairs for school buses and other fleet vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Perform all mechanical duties as assigned in accordance with approved standards, the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and School Board Policies and Procedures
- Keep accurate record of vehicle inspections and maintenance
- Complete all assigned work orders, and record hours and materials used
- Keep work area clean and safe
- Maintain the safe operation of all equipment used in the bus garage
- Conduct road tests as required
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Applicants must upload a completed resume and cover letter highlighting how their training and experience qualifies them for this position
- Applicants are asked to upload copies of all certificates/diplomas which are required for the position, including their Red Seal Journeyperson Truck and Transport Mechanic certificate
- Applicants must also provide names and contact information for at least three professional references
- Employment with the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board is contingent upon providing a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry check and Criminal Records (Vulnerable Sector) Check
- Journeyperson Bus and Transport Mechanic or Journeyperson Truck and Transport Mechanic is required
- Grade 12 education or an acceptable equivalent
- Experience in truck and transport mechanics is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to do work as required in the posted position, and the ability to work with others and provide assistance
- WHMIS
- Reliable and conscientious
- Acceptable record of attendance in prior employment
- Must have a valid Driver's License
