About the Role

Provide short-term, surge, and on-demand counseling services to military service members and their families, offering non-medical counseling, training, and consultations.

Responsibilities

Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth.
Conduct assessments, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, and referrals.
Provide parent training and guidance.
Deliver training and health and wellness presentations.
Participate in health fairs and base activities.
Enter counselor activity data daily, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Build rapport with service personnel, family members, students, parents, and co-workers.
Adapt to new working conditions and varying location rules.
Work effectively with minimal instruction and guidance.
Listen carefully to instructions.
Participate in regular in-services, training, and Quality Improvement committees.
Engage and communicate with military members, spouses, or children to accomplish job functions.
Respond quickly to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installation or within a school setting.
Traverse short and/or long distances within the base to both indoor and outdoor locations.
Maneuver through rugged, outdoor, or uneven locations.
Work in outdoor weather and other military base conditions.
Comply with various site-specific requirements, including potential immunization or vaccination records.
Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and provide appropriate linkages.
Partner with POC to provide Adult and CYB services addressing installation/facility needs.
Develop an excellent working relationship with the installation/facility POC.
Manage duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to DoD protocol.
Staff cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Communicate with Regional Supervisors and participate in regular individual and group supervision.
Share information regarding trends and issues on installations and facilities.
Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the OSD program manager.

Requirements

Willing to accept assignments of undefined periods with short notice, to include weekends.
Able to cover assignments of varying length, from a weekend to two weeks, on a full-time basis.
Ability to prove US Citizenship.
Must be fluent in English.
Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
For CYB positions, must meet Magellan MFLC CYB criteria for experience with children and youth and specialty in child and adolescent development/psychology.
When working with children, counselor must abide by line of sight protocol.
Must comply with all applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements and internal policies and procedures.
