About the Role
The Senior Marketing Manager will provide strategic leadership across an assigned portfolio of live events, developing and delivering integrated marketing strategies that drive audience engagement, delegate registrations, award entries and commercial performance. The role works closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to shape marketing strategy, identify growth opportunities, and ensure campaigns meet objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing strategies across an assigned portfolio of conferences, awards and forums.
- Set clear marketing objectives, priorities and KPIs, ensuring activity is aligned with wider business and commercial goals.
- Provide strategic oversight of multi-channel campaigns across email, social media, websites, digital advertising, partnerships and other relevant channels.
- Review campaign performance and audience insight, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and translating these into actionable recommendations.
- Work closely with senior Commercial stakeholders to develop marketing approaches that support delegate acquisition, sponsorship, partnerships and revenue objectives.
- Oversee marketing budgets across the assigned portfolio, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and activity delivers value against agreed objectives.
- Ensure effective use of customer data, audience segmentation and CRM capabilities to support targeted and measurable marketing activity.
- Provide strategic oversight of event websites, landing pages and digital customer journeys, ensuring they support audience engagement and conversion.
- Identify and implement new marketing approaches, channels and opportunities to improve audience engagement, campaign performance and customer experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Editorial, Events, Design, Data, Production and Brand teams.
- Manage and develop relationships with external agencies, suppliers and partners, ensuring they deliver against agreed objectives and standards.
- Provide direction and oversight across campaign planning and delivery, ensuring key priorities, risks and dependencies are effectively managed.
- Lead, coach and develop Marketing Managers and more junior members of the marketing team, supporting individual development and building marketing capability.
- Support resource planning across the team, helping to ensure the right skills and capacity are available to deliver the events portfolio effectively.
- Contribute to the development of wider marketing strategy, processes and best practice across the Live Events function.
- Support the Head of Marketing / Marketing Director with wider departmental objectives, strategic projects and company-wide KPIs.
- Attend and support live events as required, including occasional evening attendance.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of marketing principles, integrated campaign strategy and audience acquisition.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, customer journeys and data-led marketing.
- Strong understanding of audience segmentation, CRM, customer data and campaign performance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of event marketing and the B2B media, publishing or events environment.
- Good understanding of commercial marketing and the relationship between audience growth, marketing activity and revenue performance.
- Strong understanding of marketing trends and emerging channels, with the ability to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Strong understanding of GDPR and the responsible use of customer marketing data.
- Good understanding of budget management and resource allocation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate business objectives into effective marketing strategies.
- Excellent campaign and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple portfolios, priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret data, evaluate performance and make evidence-based recommendations.

- A strong track record in marketing, ideally within events, B2B media, publishing or a related environment.
- Significant experience developing and delivering integrated marketing strategies and multi-channel campaigns.
- Proven ability to oversee marketing activity across multiple events, brands, products or portfolios.
- Confident using audience data, campaign reporting and insight to inform strategic decisions and improve performance.
- Strong commercial experience, working closely with Commercial or Sales teams to support audience acquisition, sponsorship, partnerships and revenue objectives.
- Demonstrable experience managing marketing budgets and making effective decisions around resource allocation and investment.
- A track record of building and managing effective relationships with agencies, suppliers and external partners.
- Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing marketing professionals and supporting the growth of a high-performing team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior colleagues and work effectively across multiple functions.
