About the Role
Barnet & Southgate College offers an exciting opportunity to join the College as a Study Support Assistant. This role is part of a team dedicated to supporting students, thereby enhancing their chances of success in college and in life. The position requires proven ability to manage and support students with learning support needs and experience in developing support plans with SMART targets to remove barriers to learning.
Responsibilities
- Provide a helpful, professional, and flexible service to internal or external customers.
- Act in accordance with College values and represent Barnet and Southgate College positively.
- Operate in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.
- Act in a safe manner, safeguarding the health and safety of yourself and others.
- Be aware of equality and diversity, customer and learner needs, and demonstrate these principles in all work aspects.
- Comply with the College’s safeguarding requirements to protect the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
- Participate in and take responsibility for your own learning and development.
- Provide cover or support for team members and undertake other duties as required by your line manager, including attending other Barnet and Southgate College campuses if required.
Requirements
- Proven ability to manage and support a caseload of students with learning support needs.
- Experience of drawing up an agreed support plan with SMART targets to meet appropriate criteria and remove barriers to learning.
- Working knowledge of SEND legislation and its application to college students.
- Understanding of student engagement strategies, initial assessment processes, and barriers to learning claims.
