About the Role
As a Strategic Negotiator on the Strategic Negotiation team, you will combine deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions supporting Google's infrastructure growth. You will work with specific project teams on negotiating agreements, managing vendor and partner relationships, and presenting recommendations to Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations can save Google millions in operating costs and impact the entire business.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex energy supply formation and commercial structuring, including first-of-their-kind behind-the-meter clean baseload energy deals involving Power, Performance, and Area (PPAs) with energy suppliers, microgrid contracts, and utility energy supply contracts with special tariff development and sleeving structures.
- Drive cross-functional workstreams including regional market trend analysis, project economic and generation dispatch modeling, risk assessment across accounting and treasury functions, technical engineering analysis of system design, and leadership alignment across energy and infrastructure executives for decision-making and approvals.
- Identify new energy-ready sites and develop/strengthen relationships with key energy partners including IPPs, utilities, co-ops, and other related energy stakeholders.
- Contribute to the growth of Google's data center portfolio through energy due diligence during site selection and data center project development.
Requirements
- 6 years of experience in energy project development, utility procurement, or finance/consulting roles.
- 6 years of experience developing or structuring power purchase agreements for Microgrids, Behind-the-Meter (BTM) power agreements, gas turbines, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), fuel cell, or geothermal energy.
