About the Role
As a Custodian with S&C Electric Company, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team within a production environment. You will engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints, utilizing both hands and arms repetitively for a full range of motion.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance and cleaning of floor surfaces including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, and waxing, and power scrubbing.
- General maintenance of cleaning equipment.
- Collection, sorting, and compacting of waste disposal.
- Contact with disposal firms when necessary.
- Clearing of entrances and site sidewalks, including sweeping leaves, clearing snow, applying snow-melt, and picking up wind-blown debris.
- Support for office re-arrangements.
- Assisting in the setup and cleanup of meetings, including rooms and set-aside parking areas.
- Stocking paper and soap products throughout the facility.
- Cleaning and upkeep of washrooms.
Requirements
- Experience in commercial cleaning is considered an asset but not required.
- Knowledge of the operation of single-stage snow blowers, ride-on power scrubbers, and floor buffing/scrubbing machines.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- A team member who fully supports our Guiding Principles and naturally conducts themselves accordingly.
- Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.
- Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
- Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
- Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
- Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
- Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
- Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
- Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
