About the Role
Support advanced prototyping, fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of ruggedized systems in defense-related applications for the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL).
Responsibilities
- Fabricate Military Specification (MIL-SPEC) cable and fiber assemblies based on technical drawings and instructions, including soldering, crimping, polishing.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical assemblies, and Military Specification (MIL-SPEC) cable and fiber assemblies.
- Fabricate cable harness and protectors, such as braided sleeves and spiral wrap, based on technical instructions.
- Label cables based on technical data and instructions, including creation and application of labels.
- Fabricate electromechanical assemblies using hand and machine tools.
- Identify and consult on potential issues on technical drawings to complete fabrication and assembly.
- Identify parts, supplies, and tools needed to complete fabrication and assembly.
- Prepare and maintain accurate quality and assembly documentation/work instructions.
- Maintain and manage inventory while keeping an organized workspace.
- Assist Engineers during field repairs, diagnosis, and/or upgrades.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduation or GED.
- Two years of experience in the skilled construction and maintenance of electromechanical equipment using hand and machine tools.
- Knowledge of types and uses of screws, nuts, bolts, fasteners, & materials.
- Knowledge of assembly and various machining techniques.
- Must be self-motivated and able to self-pace to complete job in time allowed.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to listen, remember both written and verbal directions, and consistently apply those instructions to your work.
- Skills in working with new technologies, being highly organized, planning and coordinating multiple tasks, effective time management, attention to detail, effective problem solving skills, using excellent judgment, working independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintaining a professional demeanor, working as a team member without daily supervision, effectively communicating with all groups of clients, working under pressure, and accepting supervision.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
