About the Role
Develop mechanical components for high frequency sonar systems in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) with ARL:UT.
Responsibilities
- Assembly, test, production, and validation of hardware at the component and system level
- Design and development of mechanical packaging for high frequency sonar applications
- Development of structural mechanical components for electronics packaging
- Development of transducer and sonar assembly tooling
- Maintenance of design documentation, production procedures, and mechanical part and assembly drawings
- Other related functions as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical area
- Familiarity with mechanical design involving product development from concept, to detailed design, to manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience in design and development of mechanical components using SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) tools
- Experience interfacing with vendors and machine shops to procure mechanical components
- Experience and training with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information
- Maintain a professional demeanor
- Work as a team member with and without daily supervision
- Work several overlapping projects over a short period of time
- Ability to work within an environment with rapidly changing priorities
- Effectively communicate with all groups of clients
- Able to work under pressure and accept supervision
- Regular and punctual attendance
- US Citizen
- Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate for the position
