About the Role
Harris Beach Murtha Cullina PLLC seeks an energetic, knowledgeable mid-level litigation associate to assist with all types of municipal litigation matters in a thriving and highly productive litigation practice.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a significant caseload from inception
- Meet and create contacts with New York State and Federal Court personnel
- Actively participate in career development and growth, practically and professionally
- Argue before State and Federal Courts
- Represent clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
- Take and defend depositions
- Be an active research team member to assist clients with various factual and legal issues
- Collaborate with senior partners on case management and strategy
- Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, memoranda, and discovery demands
- Obtain experience factually researching business and corporate policies, and programs by examining records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations
Requirements
- 3+ years of litigation experience required
- Admission to New York bar required
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school required
- Active member in good standing of the bar required
- Exceptionally strong writing skills required
- Excellent verbal communication skills required
- Demonstrated high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload
- Demonstrated ability to absorb, process and understand new information rapidly
- Must be able to manage competing priorities
- Maintains high standards of performance
- Exhibits conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility
- Must have a professional, cooperative, positive and flexible attitude
- Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization
- Military experience welcome
