About the Role
The Residential Aide (RA) provides direct assistance, support, and care to clients residing in the shelter, ensuring their well-being and adherence to facility rules. This role involves supporting and enforcing shelter policies while working with clients at the Belnord location.
Responsibilities
- Complete new resident intake arrival packets, exit logs, and daily occupancy forms.
- Utilize the DHS Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise Systems (CARES) for intake check-ins and discharge conditional intakes.
- Review Nightly Attendance Roster Incident reports.
- Receive and verify food deliveries, reporting any inconsistencies.
- Distribute meals to residents and dispose of expired food items according to guidelines.
- Monitor logs to ensure clients sign the Daily Attendance Roster upon entry and exit.
- Provide clients access to rooms and assist with room transfers/swaps.
- Collect and dispose of trash from the office in designated areas.
- Distribute DHS notices, appointment slips, and mail to residents.
- Clean office space, microwave, refrigerator, and bathroom at the end of each shift.
- Bag and tag client personal belongings when necessary, and report room cleaning and repair needs.
- Collaborate with the Shift Supervisor to ensure a safe environment for staff and clients.
- Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to ensure room and client belongings are secured.
- Conduct safety checks for clients staying in the facility due to illness or mobility issues.
- Ensure clients are responsive during safety checks.
- Immediately alert medical staff and supervisor of any clients in distress.
- Rotate shifts as needed to meet program demands.
- Conduct operation unit inspections during the new intake process.
- Maintain and submit all logs (Attendance, ACS, emergency contacts, sign-in/out) by the 1st of each month.
- Create a dead file of all logs for submission for storage on the 1st of each month.
- Adhere to the dress code policy and maintain a professional appearance.
- Review completed paperwork and logs from the previous shift with the Shift Supervisor.
- Physically check all unoccupied rooms for status of readiness, repairs, and cleanings.
- Ensure clean and ready units have clean linens and towels, and alert maintenance of needed items.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork, including daily occupancy, exit logs, meal census, NSR, new intake, curfew violations, and incidents.
- Serve breakfast (8:00am-10:00am), lunch (12:00pm-2:00pm), and dinner (6:00pm-8:00pm).
- Finalize Night Signature Roster (NSR) in CARES.
- Ensure new logs for the month are in place.
- Receive and log incoming meals, typically at 6:00am.
- Deliver mail during the 8:00am to 4:00pm shift.
- Clock in using the time clock system and onsite logbook.
- Be available for overtime when necessary.
- Work additional shifts to ensure coverage during staff absences.
Requirements
- Must complete a satisfactory background investigation.
- May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule.
- Periodically may bend, lift, and carry objects weighing up to seventy-five pounds.
