About the Role

A crew of 6 high school aged members, 2 senior crew members (18+), and 2 young adult Field Leaders will complete conservation projects around the East Bay Area. All projects are conducted outdoors. Crews work every other Saturday from October 17th, 2026, through May 15th, 2027. The crews' main goal is to gain conservation work skills through hands-on experiences and complete projects designed to increase climate resiliency and access to green spaces in their communities.

Responsibilities

• Complete conservation work projects with local worksite partners.
• Obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Participate in camping and practical outdoor skills training.
• Develop tool use skills and maintenance abilities.
• Learn urban agriculture basics.
• Engage in community outreach and climate change educational activities.
• Assist with local volunteer events.
• Take on leadership support tasks.
• Assist Field Leaders.
• Complete a cumulative end-of-season multimedia project.
• Complete post-season surveys.
• Provide camping feedback.

Requirements

• Be a high school student or freshly graduated who is 18 years old.
• Must be available for all program dates, barring emergencies.
• Ability to perform manual, physical labor in the outdoors for up to 8 hours per day, rain or shine (barring inclement weather).
• Ability to lift heavy materials, dig with shovels, use hand tools, plant trees/native plants, weed, and perform light construction.
• A team-oriented mindset and desire to work and learn outdoors.
• Must have the ability to legally work in the USA.
• Must live locally.
