About the Role

The Residential Director will serve as a consistent adult presence for the Academy of Math and Programming (AMP), a five-week residential STEM program for recent high school graduates. This role focuses on fostering a safe, welcoming community, supporting student adjustment to communal living, and coordinating with academic staff to ensure holistic student support.

Responsibilities

  • Live on-site in the student residence for the duration of the program
  • Work assigned evening and weekend shifts with scheduled overnight on-call coverage
  • Partner with security to enforce curfew, quiet hours, and study hours
  • Conduct regular cleanliness checks of student rooms and common spaces
  • Monitor students who are sick and unable to attend class
  • Support daily check-ins and headcounts in coordination with guidance counselors
  • Encourage responsible behavior and healthy boundaries regarding sleep and well-being
  • Respond to student needs and escalate health, safety, or well-being concerns
  • Support supervision and logistics for evening and weekend activities

Requirements

  • Experience in residential education, student life, summer camps, boarding schools, or college housing
  • Experience supporting older teenagers or young adults
  • Ability to set expectations and address routine conflict
  • Ability to handle sensitive student matters discreetly
