About the Role
Support the Hebeler-Howard Marten (HHM) division in Tonawanda, NY, as a Junior Designer. This full-time role involves creating accurate models and documentation for assigned projects under senior designer guidance, acting as a liaison between on-site production and remote design teams.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and/or 2D drawings of industrial fluid handling systems.
- Prepare and complete customer and manufacturing drawings.
- Review and incorporate project design requirements and specifications.
- Draft piping, structural steel, vessels, and other related components.
- Prepare manufacturing material lists.
- Select fasteners, gasket materials, and structural materials.
- Interact with production personnel to address questions and design issues, ensure design for manufacturability, and document feedback.
- Assist other departments with design-related tasks.
- Resolve technical concerns associated with design in cooperation with Project Engineers and Project Manager(s).
- Perform other related duties as required by management.
Requirements
- 2-year associate's degree in a related field.
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and PDM software.
- General knowledge of mechanical design & drawing, fluid mechanics, piping systems, tubing, hydraulic diagrams, welding techniques, and manufacturing dimensioning and tolerances.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn.
- Detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- Ability to travel to Canada to support the production facility in Port Colborne, Ontario (less than 6 times per year).
