About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Chiller Mechanic with experience in commercial, industrial, and/or institutional markets. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of chiller experience, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and rebuilding of medium-to-large tonnage chillers across all brands.
Responsibilities
- Be assigned primary service accounts and execute contract maintenance visits, inspections, site assessments, and service requests.
- Recommend necessary upgrades or repairs to prolong equipment life cycle.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers through effective communication.
- Provide quote estimates for labor and material repairs and upgrades.
- Serve as direct customer contact, identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems.
- Utilize cutting-edge software, technology, hand tools, and rigging equipment, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
- Ensure safety to the highest standards and maintain accountability of company assets.
- Work as part of a team dedicated to delivering high standards of service.
- Be available for overtime and weekends as required, including occasional overnight stays.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for 24/7 service.
Requirements
- Requires Journeyman status.
- Valid Red Seal Refrigeration and A/C certification.
- Valid ODS certification.
- Over 5 years of commercial, industrial, and/or institutional experience with all types of chillers, various compressor technologies, chiller control systems, and speed drives.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Working proficiency with hand-held computers (e.g., Smartphone, iPad).
- Adherence to company safety program.
- Valid driver's license.
- Appropriate licenses to work with refrigerants.
- Boiler and steam operational and service knowledge.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be available for on-call nights and weekends on a rotating basis.
- This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
