About the Role
The Restaurant Host is responsible for providing fast, friendly, and courteous service to guests by taking reservations, greeting and seating guests, and handling inquiries. The Shift Manager directs restaurant operations on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring all duties align with company policies and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service of food and beverage to all guests.
- Report to work well-groomed, in full uniform, and on time.
- Be hospitable, friendly, and polite with all guests, co-workers, and management using positive body language.
- Be familiar with all check and cashing procedures, including the POS system.
- Maintain records on established time sheets.
- Be knowledgeable of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s history, property map, restroom and telephone locations, and store/restaurant hours to efficiently handle guest inquiries.
- Take comp and VIP reservations.
- Answer telephone calls appropriately, handle all inquiries, and report compliments or problems to the shift manager.
- Promote positive customer relations at all times.
- Clean and organize all host areas as needed.
- Review all server stations and shifts at the start of the work shift.
- Maintain full knowledge of the menu, wine lists, and daily specials.
- Maintain consistent awareness of all activities in each section and visibly monitor server performance.
- Greet all guests within five (5) seconds in a friendly and courteous manner using positive body language.
- Properly clear and reset tables according to the host manual.
- Complete designated opening and closing side work daily and check with the manager or shift manager before leaving.
- Perform any duties assigned by the manager or shift manager.
- Assist all other employees in performing their duties whenever required.
- Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
- Train all associates in the restaurants to perform their job duties to meet or exceed performance objectives.
- Provide associates with the tools and supplies needed for their roles.
- Evaluate and direct personnel, and provide disciplinary action when needed.
- Ensure that all products served meet established specifications and standards.
- Participate in weekly management meetings.
- Maintain constant control of restaurant situations, including handling guest and employee complaints.
- Report any incidents to appropriate Supervisors.
- Assure prompt, professional service to all guests.
- Approach tables and speak with guests to obtain feedback about their dining experience.
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, filing, personnel maintenance, and HR issues.
- Advise the Restaurant Room Manager and/or the Restaurants Manager of daily problems and needs.
- Utilize all available resources to maximize profits.
- Complete daily reports, including the Daily Manager Report and any Incident Reports.
- Prepare necessary paperwork and order supplies and equipment for an efficient customer-oriented operation.
- Communicate regularly with associates and keep them informed on all Casino Activities and events.
- Act as a liaison between management and associates.
- Ensure that staff behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
- Share accountability for achieving cost goals, labor, and expenses.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- Must have general knowledge of all phases of full service dining.
- Must be computer literate, including a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications as well as restaurant automated systems.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and use fingers/hands for lifting and grasping.
- Must be able to lift and carry trays up to forty (40) pounds.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions.
- Must be able to talk to and hear customers/co-workers.
- Must be able to assist with special needs of customers.
- Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Must maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
