About the Role
The Student Support Services Coordinator will spearhead efforts to ensure high academic standards while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of all students. This role will implement a quality, college and career-aligned academic and social development program for students with disabilities and multilingual learners, using data to ensure research-based support and meaningful student achievements.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead efforts to ensure high academic standards and focus on social-emotional needs.
- Implement a college and career-aligned academic and social development program for students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
- Use multiple data sources to ensure students receive research-based support and interventions.
- Ensure students are making meaningful achievements and families are partners in the work.
- Lead and implement the vision for co-teaching.
- Manage and coach a team of teachers responsible for IEP case management and compliance.
- Create quality programs for students needing additional support.
- Lead professional development for teachers to create access for all learners.
- Foster a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience as a full-time, impactful secondary special educator.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in an urban charter school setting strongly preferred.
- Evidence of deep knowledge of special education compliance and effective practice.
- Adept problem-solver with demonstrated ability to think critically, plan strategically, research, and perform detailed data analysis.
- Documented success coaching special educators and leading school-wide systems.
- Strong instructional leadership skills with experience coaching teachers and leading professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to inform instruction and strengthen student outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to equity and culturally responsive practice.
- A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills.
- A consummate coach and strong relationship builder.
- Familiar with restorative practices.
- A strong believer in anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, and trauma-informed practices.
- Professional fluency in Spanish or experience with ESL/Dual Language teaching preferred.
- Proactive and fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience using technology as both a management and instructional tool.
- High appreciation for and ability to work in and lead a diverse community.
- Team-player capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to engage, enlist, and energize others in ongoing improvement of learning and teaching.
