About the Role

Admission Cashier/Greeters at Queens Botanical Garden are responsible for operating the ticketing booth, selling admission and parking, staffing the reception desk, selling concessions, and admitting members and groups. This role involves providing excellent customer service, answering questions about the Garden, offering directions, and informing guests about upcoming programs and events. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about admission and parking pricing, as well as the benefits of Garden membership.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the ticketing booth, selling admission and parking to guests.
  • Staff the reception desk.
  • Sell concessions and admit members and groups.
  • Provide customer service and answer guest questions.
  • Provide wayfinding directions.
  • Inform guests about upcoming programs and events.
  • Be knowledgeable about the Garden’s admission and parking pricing policies.
  • Be knowledgeable about the benefits of Garden membership.
  • Sell admission and parking tickets using a Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Complete member, credit card, and cash transactions.
  • Distribute correct change and admission tickets.
  • Ensure the security of all Admission Booth cash and equipment.
  • Keep booth and surrounding area clean and well organized.
  • Weed areas near Admission Booth, sweep pathways, and assure entrances and exits are well groomed.
  • Provide support at special events, rentals, and public programs, including concession sales and birthday rentals.
  • Support the store and reception desk, and sell memberships.
  • Greet groups and visitors arriving for classes, tours, meetings, and events.
  • Answer phone inquiries and direct questions to appropriate staff extensions.
  • Receive and log delivered packages and communicate with appropriate staff for pickup.
  • Maintain an attractive and neat appearance of store displays, lobby area, and V&A terrace.
  • Refresh literature and signage as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, some college preferred.
  • Customer Service, Administrative, and Clerical skills.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn Point of Sale (POS) cash register; Counterpoint SQL, Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff and visitors in a high-volume setting.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in cash handling.
  • Ability to perform all tasks required of the position including but not limited to weeding, stocking merchandise, accepting and moving deliveries and/or moving furniture up to 30 lbs.
  • Evening and Weekend work required.
  • Assist at special events, may require late evenings.
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination strongly recommended for employment.
