About the Role

We are seeking a Retirement and Investment Specialist to join the Freedom Access team, one of the fastest-growing sectors at Canada Life. Your goal will be to ensure client satisfaction and loyalty by providing excellent customer service, offering sound investment advice, and persuading clients to maintain their financial commitment to Canada Life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients during their enrollment in a group retirement savings plan to help them understand plan design, choose appropriate contribution rates, and transfer funds into their accounts.
  • Offer personalized advice on investment and retirement portfolios based on client portfolios and situations to build confidence in their retirement program.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through various channels (phone calls, emails, in-person and virtual meetings), managing a high volume of referred prospective clients daily to answer questions about investment and retirement plans.
  • Provide information and advice on financial planning and other relevant topics.
  • Proactively and reactively interact with clients considering asset withdrawal, asking exploratory questions to understand concerns and offer personalized financial solutions to meet their needs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve client issues and improve overall satisfaction.
  • Lead client retention initiatives to prevent asset departures and implement campaigns to improve client engagement and loyalty.
  • Assist the team in achieving its objectives to grow and retain plan participant assets within the group retirement plan.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the client experience and retention by proposing value-added services, tailored solutions, and personalized planning.

Requirements

  • Valid Life License (LLQP) or willingness to obtain within three months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFP, CFA) are an asset.
  • Five years of experience in the financial services sector or a related field, with a focus on sales or retention.
  • Good knowledge of retirement, savings, and investment products or services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to interact with clients.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence clients, presenting compelling arguments and solutions to retain their assets.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, identify trends, and make recommendations in the client's best interest.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Salesforce is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (proficient in French and English) is an asset and required for Quebec, as the incumbent will regularly serve both French- and English-speaking clients.
  • A criminal record check and credit background check is mandatory as a condition of employment.
  • Reliability Status and Security Clearance: Only candidates who have received a job offer can undergo these checks. This is a personal security clearance required as a condition of employment. It must be obtained before an employee can access Protected B level information, assets, or workplaces, as indicated on the Government of Canada website. Canada Life will cover the costs associated with these checks.
