About the Role
The D&E Process Engineering organization supports EB leadership by developing and managing improvement strategies, executing initiatives, mentoring employees, and measuring improvement activities. These efforts align with EB business objectives and support the US Navy's submarine design and delivery commitment. Candidates will lead project teams and events to enhance safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead project teams, workshops, and Rapid Improvement (RIE) or Design Build Sustain (DBS) events.
- Conduct data analysis to determine production costs, cost-saving methods, and the impact of design changes on expenditures.
- Analyze statistical data and product specifications to establish quality and reliability objectives.
- Resolve emergent design issues.
- Lead and support engineering disciplines in statistical analyses for urgent technical issues.
- Assist organizations in identifying, planning, and implementing projects aligned with company objectives and schedules.
- Organize projects into manageable activities and milestones, developing clear problem/objective statements and project charters.
- Drive projects to completion, navigating and escalating roadblocks.
- Collaborate with leadership and employees to apply Lean and Six Sigma methods to solve problems and improve processes.
- Provide project status updates to management, solicit feedback, and resolve barriers.
- Mentor employees during change initiatives.
- Train others in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Demonstrate strong project management and prioritization skills.
- Work under minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Complete Black Belt projects, including preparing and issuing final reports.
- Combine assertive initiative with professional discipline to accomplish challenging tasks.
- Act as change agents to remove barriers.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of post-graduate experience in engineering.
- 5+ years of EB experience working within Design and Engineering (Preferred).
- At least 5 years of project management experience (Preferred).
- Green Belt and Black Belt training and/or certification (Preferred).
- Past experience with Lean, Kaizen, or Toyota Production Systems is highly desired (Preferred).
- Strong Knowledge of NX/Teamcenter functionality (Preferred).
- Familiarity with submarine arrangements and ship systems (Preferred).
- Hands-on experience interacting with and analyzing data from enterprise business systems (Preferred).
