About the Role
As Security Design Manager, you will lead the security interface between the HS2 Railway Directorate and the HS2 supply chain, producing security design deliverables. You will provide Line of Defence (LOD) Level 2 assurance and subject matter expert support to project teams to ensure the design of a safe, technically integrated, and compliant future operational railway.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of HMG standards and guidelines, such as the DfT ‘Security in the Design of Stations’ Guide, through decision making and design reviews.
- Work with Police CTSAs and DOCOs as appropriate.
- Provide justifications and elements of security design to the HS2 Security Steering Panel and Design Panel.
- Provide security input to the HS2 project wide Hazard Record, analysing threats and compliance evidence.
- Support the Senior System Security Manager and the Head of System Safety, Security and Interoperability in maintaining cooperative relationships with DfT Land Security, CPNI, and BTP to ensure approval of HS2 designs.
- Ensure compliance of security designs and future security operations with UK legislation and HS2 requirements.
- Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work.
- Support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.
Requirements
- The ability to brief and report to senior levels of HS2.
- The ability to receive and understand complex engineering information.
- The ability to manage or support multiple work streams simultaneously.
- Knowledge of security design assurance principles and processes, preferably within a CNI sector.
- Knowledge of physical security principles, standards, and guidelines.
- Knowledge of security systems, blast mitigation, and HVM principles and products.
- Experience of major rail infrastructure upgrade projects or similar scale projects.
- Experience in consultancy for producing assessments and deliverables for a project of HS2 scale and scope.
- Experience of delivering evidence of security design within a safety-critical environment (e.g., aviation, rail, maritime, oil/gas, nuclear, or military applications).
- Experience operating within a regulatory environment.
- Experience in management of multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of implementing and delivering security assurance processes.
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
- Must not have certain types of time-bound visas.
- Must be able to complete pre-employment checks including Nationality & Immigration Status, employment references, DBS, Financial and Education checks.
