About the Role
As Senior Manager Regulatory & Legal Affairs, you will shape the regulatory and legal framework for FlixTrain's access to the German and European rail market. You will assess rail law developments and represent our interests to authorities and industry bodies, creating the regulatory basis for fair market access and contributing to FlixTrain's long-term market influence. You will be part of a two-person team focused on regulatory and legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and evaluate rail law developments, particularly concerning ERegG, AEG, and relevant EU legislation.
- Analyze and evaluate procedures related to network access and track access charges, including communication with and proceedings before the Federal Network Agency.
- Support strategic network planning from a regulatory perspective.
- Represent FlixTrain's interests in industry committees and towards external stakeholders.
- Act as an interface, collaborating closely with internal teams in Network Planning, Public Affairs, and Legal.
- Accompany regulatory legislative processes, occasionally involving competition law and public affairs.
Requirements
- Completed law degree or a degree in economics or political science with a regulatory focus.
- Five to seven years of professional experience in regulatory or legal roles, ideally within a regulated industry such as rail, energy, or telecommunications.
- Experience in dealing with regulatory authorities.
- Ability to clearly present complex regulatory issues in an audience-appropriate manner.
- A structured, self-reliant way of working and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Willingness to apply even if not meeting 100% of the requirements but believing in the ability to make a difference.
Skills
- German rail law knowledge (advantageous, not mandatory)
- Strong German and English language skills (C1/C2)
- Other European languages (advantageous)
