About the Role
AECOM is seeking Graduate Mechanical Engineers to join their Water teams, focusing on water infrastructure and treatment projects. This role offers opportunities to engage in all design stages and work with major UK water companies.
Responsibilities
- Support senior and lead mechanical engineers in the development and management of mechanical design for wastewater and water infrastructure/treatment projects.
- Perform pumping calculations and specifications.
- Produce system schematics.
- Produce equipment and drive schedules.
- Produce engineering specification documents for hydraulics and pump systems.
- Assist clients with project delivery, asset, and network performance and design.
- Produce lifting, access, and maintenance plans.
- Liaise with internal and external design teams, clients, and contractors.
- Provide timely reporting to clients and internal team leads.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers on projects from concept to detailed design.
- Help shape and utilize AECOM’s digital solutions, including BIM, ProjectWise, and intelligent P&IDs, in the design process.
Requirements
- MEng in Mechanical Engineering (2:1 or above, or equivalent) preferred.
- Relevant work experience is an advantage.
- Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive.
- Basic computer skills (Word/Excel) essential.
- Good report writing skills.
- Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications (e.g., Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with IMechE).
- Demonstrable interest in water projects.
- Ability to structure and prioritize work effectively through close cooperation with the team.
- Ability to work independently without losing initiative and focus.
- Must have permanent right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered.
- Required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
