About the Role
As an intern, you will work alongside experienced practitioners and clients to solve complex challenges, gaining hands-on experience and building your network. This role involves performing various assignments within the mechanical discipline under supervision, including preparing drawings and assisting with the design of mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with and assist Building Mechanical Engineers and Designers to prepare reports, design documents, and calculations.
- Perform engineering calculations using HVAC design software and Excel.
- Use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare HVAC and plumbing drawings and details.
- Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines.
Requirements
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to solve problems using sound engineering judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Strong work ethic and motivation to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD MEP and Revit.
- Working knowledge of heat transfer calculations.
- Commitment to a culture of safety.
- The candidate should have the ability to report to the office in Rochester, NY; Albany, NY; Binghamton, NY; or Burlington, MA.
- Some fieldwork may be required.
