About the Role

deskbird is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to act as a co-pilot to the management team, owning the equity story, leading future financing rounds, and running an AI-first operations function. This role offers significant equity upside and a direct partnership with founders.

Responsibilities

Manage the equity story and ensure readiness for future financing rounds, strategic options, and long-term value creation.
Develop and own the plan for achieving sustainable profitability without sacrificing growth.
Establish and lead an AI-first finance and operations function, prioritizing automation and lean team structures.
Provide commercial intelligence to GTM and Product teams, driving insights for investment decisions.
Oversee international structure and tax efficiency, including multi-entity group management and transfer pricing.
Maintain the cap table and investor-grade financials, ensuring readiness for financing rounds and compliance with accounting standards.
Manage board and investor relations, including reporting and representation.
Oversee treasury, risk management, runway discipline, scenario planning, and operational backbone functions.

Requirements

A transaction-shaped career, ideally with experience in PE, M&A, investment banking, or transaction advisory/strategy consulting with strong deal exposure.
Proven operating experience in a scaling company.
Deep fluency in finance processes and B2B SaaS mechanics (e.g., ARR/NRR, cohort economics, CAC payback, Rule of 40, ARR-to-cash bridge).
Experience at a company scale of >€10M ARR and ~100+ employees, with exposure to >€25M ARR.
Fundraising and/or liquidity event experience, preferably with a focus on profitable growth.
A hands-on, builder mentality focused on enterprise value creation per person.
Genuine excitement and daily use of AI tools for work.
Based in or willing to work from a hub (Zurich, Berlin, Munich, or London); remote within Europe considered for exceptional candidates.
Full working proficiency in English; German is strongly preferred.
Experience owning or partnering closely with People & Culture (nice to have).
Experience with multi-entity European operations (Swiss/EU accounting, VAT, transfer pricing, cross-border payroll) (nice to have).
Venture debt, structured financing, or buy-side M&A experience (nice to have).
