About the Role

Agora is a think tank dedicated to achieving a climate-neutral energy system worldwide by mid-century. Agora Industry's global steel transformation programme develops analyses to guide policymakers, industry, and civil society toward impactful emission reduction technologies in the steel sector. This position is part of the International Collaboration and Markets team, focusing on the global steel transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage research projects on steel sector transformation.
  • Develop studies, memos, and policy papers to promote steel sector transformation.
  • Transfer international best practices and research results to stakeholders in focus regions.
  • Engage with stakeholders and advise government authorities on key policies.
  • Contribute to data collection and management for tools like the Global Steel Transformation Tracker.
  • Monitor political debates and technological developments.
  • Support the development and implementation of steel decarbonisation roadmaps.
  • Communicate research results and insights on industry transition policies, regulations, and techno-economic developments.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and network development, including organizing consultations, events, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth daily operations and forward planning.

Requirements

  • A strong desire to actively shape global clean energy and industry transitions.
  • Master's degree in economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience with industry topics.
  • Specific experience working with the steel sector is an asset.
  • Experience working on public policy matters and communicating with policymakers.
  • Proven track record and expertise working in or with industry stakeholders (e.g., technologies/innovation, economics, materials science).
  • Experience working in international teams and networks.
  • Dedication, reliability, perseverance, and a strong intellect.
  • Creativity and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • High degree of personal initiative and a structured, organized working manner.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to present analytical and research material.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Fluency in English; other language skills are a plus.
