About the Role
Teya is building a financial platform for local businesses across Europe, aiming to simplify financial services with user-friendly tools, thoughtful design, and human support. This role is crucial for navigating the regulatory landscape, managing licensing, and shaping public policy to benefit independent businesses.
Responsibilities
- Manage licensing work in the UK and the EU, including new authorisations, variations of permission, passporting, and cross-border notifications.
- Support Compliance in day-to-day engagement with the FCA and EU national competent authorities on applications, supervisory queries, and notifications.
- Manage Teya's public policy work in the UK and the EU on behalf of independent local businesses, covering payments legislation, the digital euro, digital identity, and other relevant files.
- Draft position papers, consultation responses, and briefings for policymakers, and represent Teya in trade associations and industry working groups.
- Manage Teya's participation in the Scale-up Unit, from setting the agenda to preparing submissions and following through on outcomes.
- Work closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to address regulatory questions across the business, from product design through to market entry.
- Track regulatory and legislative developments in the UK and EU, communicate potential impacts on Teya and local businesses, and advise on strategy evolution.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in England and Wales.
- Four to seven years of experience in financial services regulation (in-house, private practice, or at a regulator).
- Working knowledge of UK and EU financial services regulation and relevant policy developments.
- Experience in drafting position papers, consultation responses, and internal advice in plain English.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously with external advisers and internal stakeholders under regulatory deadlines.
- Interest in financial services, public policy, and improving the regulatory landscape for independent businesses.
- Demonstrable experience in public policy, regulatory engagement, and advocacy is essential.
- Previous experience with licensing or authorisation work with the FCA, the PRA, or an EU national competent authority is preferred.
