About the Role
The Social Worker will be an allocated member of the Children with Disabilities (0-18) Service, working with children aged 0-18. This role involves managing cases related to Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Children Looked After (CLA), and children involved in public and private law proceedings. The position requires assessing, planning, monitoring, and reviewing care for disabled children and young adults, and implementing suitable care packages.
Responsibilities
- Assessment, planning, monitoring, and review functions for all allocated disabled children, young adults, and families.
- Implementing suitable care packages for disabled children to promote their welfare.
- Working with ages of 0-18 years.
- Working with Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Children Looked After (CLA), and children subject to public care proceedings.
- Working with children subject to private law proceedings, including Children in Need, children in receipt of care packages, and those in residential placements under CLA.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation, statutory regulations, guidance, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including legislation, regulations, standards, government objectives, initiatives, and the National and Common Assessment Framework.
- Experience of user consultation and participation focusing on the needs of service users and carers.
- Experience including casework responsibility for direct work with children and families within a statutory fieldwork setting(s).
- Ability to build empathetic and supportive relationships with children/young people and their families.
- Ability to communicate clearly and directly both verbally and in writing, with the use of interpreters and translators when required.
- Ability to make accurate and timely case recording.
- Ability to travel for business purposes.
