About the Role
In Developer Relations, we collaborate and connect with technology communities. As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will act as part community manager and part developer advocate, engaging with developers at conferences and online, and representing their interests internally at Google. You will write sample code, client libraries, participate in developer forums, and troubleshoot coding problems. Internally, you will work with product engineering teams to improve products by conveying developer feedback, reviewing API designs, and testing new features. You will drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies, represent their voice internally to Product Managers, and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.
Responsibilities
- Present technical sessions and workshops at conferences, meetups, and developer events.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to deliver the most relevant developer narrative to Android Developers.
- Understand how Android development works in an agentic coding era and drive high quality input to ensure models can effectively write idiomatic and performant Android code.
- Become an expert in one or more foundational Android areas, and identify opportunities for Google and developers to create better products for users.
- Work with external developers, generate developer insights, create guidance, write example code, author blog posts, design APIs, propose product changes, influence engineering plans, discover developer stories, and inspire developers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience building for Android using Kotlin.
- Experience with UI development.
- 5 years of experience in Android software development.
- 3 years of experience as a technical practitioner in a developer community.
- Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience presenting technical content to large audiences.
- Experience using AI agents.
