About the Role
MRK is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician for the Berlin community in Berlin, MD. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing property quality by handling repairs, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance, with a strong emphasis on timely work order completion.
Responsibilities
- Performs repairs, troubleshoots mechanical systems, and completes preventative maintenance.
- Conducts maintenance-related inspections, including building and alarm systems.
- Restores vacated apartments to move-in condition for new residents.
- Removes snow, ice, and leaves from sidewalks, walkways, steps, and driveways/parking spaces.
- Completes janitorial requirements in accordance with the janitorial schedule.
- Responds to on-call emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays, resolving issues.
- Patrols property daily to identify areas needing cleaning and completes required work.
- Removes trash/debris from property grounds and common areas.
- Keeps the dumpster area clean.
- Vacuums, sweeps, and mops common areas.
- Removes litter and debris from lawns, planting beds, parking areas, sidewalks, ramps, and indoor spaces.
Requirements
- Must have hand tools.
- Must wear ANSI approved steel-toe shoes/composite.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Willing to assist with other properties within the portfolio and surrounding portfolios as needed.
- Willing to travel up to 10-20% of the time.
Skills
- Proficiency in performing plumbing, electric, and machinery repair.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow direction and work independently in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment.
- Ability to read, speak, and comprehend the English language.

Experience Level
- Minimum of two years of maintenance or construction experience.
- One year of experience as a full-charge residential maintenance technician is preferred.
Education Level
- High school diploma or GED required.
- EPA certification preferred.
- HVAC certification preferred.
