About the Role
The Fund Accounting team is based in our London office. The successful candidate will lead the team and work closely with other support functions. We are looking for an experienced fund accounting professional who can contribute immediately. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of fund accounting, strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Managing the monthly NAV process
- Maintaining a strong control environment for the production of daily P&Ls, official estimates and final monthly NAVs
- Managing the Fund Accounting team
- Chairing the Valuation Committee and ensuring adherence to the valuation policy, keeping it current, comprehensive and accurate
- Producing and reporting recurring and ad hoc management information, including track records, attribution and scenario analysis, to stakeholders across the firm, including senior management, Client Services and the Sales team
- Managing the regulatory reporting process for the funds
- Managing the audited financial statements process for the fund entities
- Managing relationships with outsourced service providers, including external administrators and auditors
- Preparing materials for the firm's governance bodies, including the Corporate Board, Fund Boards and Executive Committee
- Managing the internal fund-of-funds rebalancing processes
- Managing the FX hedging processes for the funds
- Driving continuous improvement across the wider Finance team to support the firm's growth, scalability and efficiency as it develops additional fund products for investors
- Holding informal and formal meetings with team members, including quarterly one-to-one meetings and annual appraisals
- Recruiting and inducting new colleagues
- Planning, organising and regularly reviewing the team's aims, objectives and priorities
- Leading and motivating the team to maximise individual and departmental performance
- Setting clear standards, expectations and parameters to encourage a unified team
- Managing poor performance effectively, when necessary, for the benefit of the individual, the team and the Company
- Undertaking day-to-day line management duties, including approving annual leave and managing absence
Requirements
- Experience working within a hedge fund environment
- Detailed knowledge of fund accounting, including equalisation credits, contingent redemptions and series accounting, is essential and will be discussed in depth during the interview
- Ability to consider and discuss hypothetical scenarios and generate ideas relating to fund accounting
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and projects within tight deadlines
- Appropriate IT skills
- Demonstrable experience in effective people management
