About the Role
MTA IT seeks qualified candidates to assist with the monitoring of critical systems, both hardware and software. This role involves managing facility temperature alerts, CPU, memory, and space utilization on servers, APC Netbotz devices, and Oracle databases. The position is part of a 24x7 team responsible for opening tickets and assisting Sys Admins with resolution, as well as running scripted jobs in various environments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor critical systems, hardware, and software.
- Manage facility temperature alerts, CPU, memory, and space utilization on servers.
- Monitor APC Netbotz devices and Oracle databases.
- Open tickets as needed.
- Assist Sys Admins with issue resolution.
- Run pre-written scripted jobs in Windows, Linux, and AS/400 environments.
- Assist with the configuration and optimization of alarms and alerts.
- Eliminate nuisance alarms and ensure needed alerts are sent to the correct parties.
- Assist in the development of new tools to monitor system health.
- Work with IT facility managers across the region.
Requirements
- Experience in operations.
- Ability to work as part of a 24x7 team.
- Strong knowledge of basic MS Office tools.
- Ability to clearly communicate via phone and email.
- Experience in the selection, installation, and upgrade of field hardware is encouraged.
