About the Role

NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan (NUEJ) is seeking a leader to drive the success of anime projects, overseeing the full production lifecycle from concept development to delivery. This role involves maximizing title profitability through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, mentoring team members, and supporting overall team operations.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute production strategies to secure broadcast opportunities and drive the success of anime projects.
Oversee the full production lifecycle from concept development to delivery.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to maximize title profitability.
Mentor and develop team members while supporting overall team operations.
Identify emerging opportunities and market shifts by staying attuned to consumer trends.
Select original works with strong commercialization potential and build trusted relationships with creators and publishers.
Develop business plans (BP) and P&L projections, and secure approval from senior management.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish and execute project plans and operating structures.
Drive business initiatives in line with approved plans and implement monetization strategies.
Lead negotiations and coordination with investors and partners to establish production committees.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and financial performance.
Develop and implement additional initiatives, including enhanced promotional activities, to maximize project success and revenue.
Lead the selection and negotiation of key production and creative partners.
Review scripts, animation footage, music, and other creative deliverables to ensure quality and creative excellence.
Oversee final deliverables to ensure quality standards are met and maintain brand integrity.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with original creators, directors, artists, and other key creative partners.
Represent the company externally through speaking engagements and industry panels.
Support team members in managing and progressing their projects effectively.
Share business strategies and market insights, and guide individual producers.
Improve production efficiency through the review and optimization of workflows and operational processes.
Develop and mentor junior team members by providing regular feedback, coaching, and guidance.
Foster a collaborative team culture and maximize organizational effectiveness through teamwork and cross-functional cooperation.

Requirements

Experience as an Anime producer as a committee lead.
Basic knowledge and hands-on experience of original content, anime, and music production processes.
Project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Flexible communication to manage internal and external stakeholders.
Experience and understanding of licensing, including rights structures and royalties.
Knowledge and understanding in managing various contracts such as rights licensing, business schemes, and tax.
Ability to prepare proposals based on an understanding of business and investment revenue models.
Negotiation skills with funding partners, production studios, and creators.
Native level of Japanese skill both in written and verbal.

Ability to persuade creators with a 'consumer perspective' logic.
Strong commitment to pursuing and improving the quality of the project.
Experience in planning and producing content with a global market perspective.

English and/or Chinese skill is nice to have.
