About the Role

Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions delivers safe, reliable, and sustainable geotechnical and groundwork services. We are seeking a General Labourer / Groundworker to support our MER teams, playing a key role in site preparation, excavation, and reinstatement. This position offers an excellent opportunity to build groundwork and construction experience, acquire new skills, and advance your career within our expanding Geotechnical Solutions team.

Responsibilities

  • Support MER Operatives with mobilisation, excavation and reinstatement activities.
  • Help prepare sites, including clearing areas, setting up barriers and maintaining safe access.
  • Assist with manual digging, handling tools and managing excavated materials.
  • Support backfilling, compaction and reinstatement of excavated areas.
  • Use basic tools and equipment such as compactors, shovels and wheelbarrows.
  • Assist with loading, unloading and moving equipment, tools and materials.
  • Keep tools and equipment clean, safe and in good working condition.
  • Report damaged or faulty equipment to the Site Supervisor.
  • Take part in toolbox talks, safety briefings and daily risk assessments.
  • Follow all HSE requirements and keep sites clean, tidy and safe.
  • Work closely with MER Operatives and the wider team to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in general labouring, groundwork or construction.
  • Basic understanding of excavation and reinstatement.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and basic site equipment.
  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
  • Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.
  • Good team player with a positive attitude.
  • Flexible approach to supporting different projects and site requirements.
  • CSCS card or equivalent.
