About the Role

This role involves driving cloud infrastructure and data platform improvements from conception to adoption across multiple business units and countries. You will be responsible for visualizing the current state of cloud infrastructure and data platforms across various products, ensuring and enhancing reliability, security, and operational efficiency while continuously optimizing costs. This position requires hands-on involvement in investigating existing environments, planning improvements, implementing changes, and ensuring smooth adoption.

Responsibilities

Identify and prioritize issues by understanding the configurations and operations of multiple products and teams, pinpointing redundancies, bottlenecks, technical risks, and future constraints, then proposing themes and priorities.
Visualize and optimize cloud costs by establishing mechanisms to track costs by product and usage, continuously optimizing while evaluating trade-offs between cost reduction, reliability, performance, and security.
Streamline and standardize infrastructure operations by designing and improving systems across necessary domains such as authentication/authorization, data, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability, and collaborating with product teams to implement common platforms and operational rules.
Organize and improve the usability of the data platform by inventorying data sets and tables in the data warehouse, establishing design and operational rules for naming, schema, partitioning, retention periods, and access rights, and creating an environment where engineers and business members can safely and efficiently access necessary data.

Requirements

Experience in designing, building, and operating production cloud infrastructure on public clouds, including IaC, IAM, networking, CI/CD, observability, and security, with practical experience in improving applications and infrastructure holistically.
Practical experience in cloud cost analysis and optimization, including analyzing cloud resource usage and costs, executing specific optimizations, and incrementally organizing, standardizing, and migrating existing infrastructure while considering the impact on live services.
Practical experience with data warehouses, including table design, permission management, and performance or cost improvements.
Experience operating production systems using alerts, metrics, and logs, and continuously improving them.
Ability to build consensus across multiple teams and products, deciding on improvement strategies based on business impact, cost, reliability, maintainability, and security, and agreeing on priorities and implementation plans with stakeholders.
Ability to understand the circumstances of each product, create realistic migration plans, and autonomously take on necessary roles for achieving results, rather than imposing an ideal configuration.
Ability to balance cost reduction with reliability, performance, security, and operational load, and to work with multiple product teams to create systems that prevent the recurrence of the same problems.
