About the Role
We're hiring a Founding Backend Engineer at Do Health, a mobile-first preventative health product co-founded by Dr Rangan Chatterjee and built inside Voy. Do Health combines regular blood tests, longitudinal health data, behaviour-change science and AI personalisation to help people make better lifestyle decisions. You'll join a 10-person team, partnering directly with the lead engineer on the backend, with significant ownership from day one.
Responsibilities
- Own major backend features end-to-end: design, build, ship, monitor, iterate.
- Shape architecture alongside the lead engineer, making real technical decisions.
- Scale blood testing infrastructure across the UK and internationally.
- Build production AI systems for personalization engines acting on longitudinal health data.
- Improve reliability, observability, and foundational systems.
- Collaborate directly with product, design, and clinical teams.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of backend experience with strong fundamentals.
- Experience at a startup or scale-up with genuine ownership.
- Architectural thinking and ability to discuss technical trade-offs.
- Track record of shipping reliable systems and infrastructure.
- Comfort making judgment calls in ambiguous situations.
- Confident and responsible use of AI tools in workflow.
- Strong TypeScript / Node.js experience is a plus.
- Experience scaling systems to high user volumes is a plus.
- Exposure to ML/AI systems in production is a plus.
- Healthcare or regulated-industry experience is a plus.
