About the Role
We are seeking a Head of DevOps to manage the platforms, infrastructure, and delivery pipelines essential for securely and reliably shipping software to our clients. This senior leadership role has a global scope, overseeing regional DevOps teams. You will report to the Executive Vice President, Engineering, build and lead the DevOps function, establish engineering standards, and ensure the reliability, security, and cost transparency of our multi-region cloud environment. While staying technically proficient to review architecture, the primary focus is leadership and multiplying team output.
Responsibilities
- Owning and evolving the DevOps strategy and translating it into a business roadmap.
- Managing the shared cloud infrastructure, tooling, and delivery pipelines for all engineering teams.
- Building and leading a multi-region DevOps function to achieve consistent standards.
- Ensuring infrastructure meets client and regulatory security and compliance requirements, with auditable evidence (e.g., SOC 2).
- Providing clear and reliable visibility into infrastructure costs, attributed by client and project.
- Developing a self-service platform for engineering teams to enable independent provisioning, building, and shipping.
- Line-managing and growing the team, including hiring as the function scales.
- Managing incident response and post-incident reviews for shared infrastructure issues, collaborating with Support.
Requirements
- Senior leadership experience owning a DevOps or platform function, ideally across multiple teams or regions.
- Proven track record of line-managing engineers with accountability for performance and development.
- Strong technical judgment to assess and guide team's technical direction.
- Significant hands-on experience building and running large-scale production systems on major cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP), including networking, IAM, compute, managed Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience managing a cloud estate that meets external audit standards (e.g., SOC 2) and provides cost visibility.
- Clear communication skills for explaining architectural trade-offs to diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes to credibly review team architecture decisions.
- Experience leading DevOps or platform functions across multiple countries or regions (Nice to Have).
- Background in a client-facing or regulated services environment (Nice to Have).
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Nice to Have).
