About the Role
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Construction Inspector to support the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities and infrastructure. The role involves observing and reporting on construction activities, coordinating with the project team, and documenting inspection activities.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications and work plans to verify contractor compliance
- Conduct on-site observation, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities
- Verify and track work in accordance with approved shop drawing submittals
- Observe contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements
- Prepare daily reports, verify material quantities, Time and Material (T&M) records and review contractor pay applications
- Monitor construction contractor’s adherence to project schedule and sequence of activities related to daily field observations
- Maintain project redline and as-built drawings
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with the CM Project team, multi-discipline engineering teams, contractors and third-party inspection/testing firms
- Assist and coordinate with project start-up, testing checkout and training activities
- Maintain construction inspection and testing related documentation as necessary
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of construction / construction observation experience
- Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical engineering work
- Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Willing to travel and stay local to projects in the NYC Metro area as needed
- Experience in municipal water and wastewater or similar industry construction inspection preferred
