About the Role
The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is building a talent pool for future opportunities for an OSINT Investigator. This role will focus on investigating malign influence using open-source tools and techniques to monitor, collate, verify, and analyze information from various media platforms. The investigator will support the team in understanding entities, networks, and infrastructure involved in malign influence, contributing to efforts to document human rights abuses and war crimes.
Responsibilities
- Apply open-source investigation and analytical techniques to collect, collate, verify, and analyze data related to malign influence.
- Design research methodologies to deliver relevant evidence with required accuracy, verification standards, and within deadlines.
- Conduct research and support colleagues by collecting data on events and associated actors.
- Record information in databases and code data according to pre-set information fields.
- Analyze data from multiple sources to generate comprehensive reports on events and entities, providing insight into patterns of behavior.
- Contribute to the design and production of high-quality project reports communicating key insights, findings, evidence, and methodology.
- Contribute to internal reviews of effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and impact.
Requirements
- Proven track record in OSINT-driven investigations.
- Proficient English and Uzbek language skills.
- Demonstrated experience researching violent extremist organizations.
- Experience conducting investigations and research across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, TikTok) and niche communication platforms (e.g., Rocket.Chat, Element).
- Experience analyzing or researching malign influence.
- Experience conducting due-diligence and/or financial investigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical terminology for different audiences and support clear, concise, and timely reporting.
