About the Role
As an OT Network/Security Administrator at BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of all components of an OT operating network, including all associated services, documentation, monitoring, and maintenance for multiple locations in Berlin. You will contribute to the OT security strategy by developing mechanisms for early threat detection and implementing continuous preventive measures. You will also participate in the ongoing optimization of OT/IT systems for security and efficiency, and support IT/OT digitalization projects from a security perspective.
Responsibilities
- Design, implementation, and operation of all components of an OT operating network, including all associated services, documentation, monitoring, and maintenance for multiple locations in Berlin.
- Contribution to the OT security strategy, developing mechanisms for early threat detection and implementing continuous preventive measures.
- Participation in the continuous optimization to increase the security and efficiency of the deployed OT/IT systems in the OT operating network.
- Support of IT/OT digitalization projects within the company from a security perspective.
Requirements
- Completed studies in IT or a similar field.
- Experience in the integration and configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as their design and operation.
- Initial experience in operating systems for threat detection (SIEM, IDS, vulnerability scanners), remote access, and data diodes in an OT environment.
- Practical experience with Ethernet / Layer 2 / Layer 3 services.
- In-depth knowledge of operating a modern carrier network and common routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MEF).
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., PROFINET, Modbus, OPC UA) is advantageous.
- Cross-functional skills or willingness to acquire them for operational purposes.
- Enjoyment in developing new solutions and optimizing complex OT landscapes.
- Strong solution-oriented approach.
- Knowledge of KRITIS requirements and standards (IEC 62443, 27001, and 27019) for energy producers.
- German language skills at a minimum C1 level.
- Willingness to work on-site.
