About the Role

SLR is seeking an early-career Mining Engineer to join its growing Mining Advisory team. This role offers the chance to work alongside experienced professionals on diverse mining projects, contributing to mine planning, operational improvements, technical assessments, and feasibility studies while developing consulting skills.

Responsibilities

Support the delivery of mining studies and assist in the preparation of technical reports.
Assist with pit optimisation, mine design, production scheduling, fleet estimation, and cost modelling activities.
Analyse data and contribute to technical evaluations.
Participate in a range of scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across a range of technical disciplines.
Contribute to client presentations, project reports, and technical documentation.
Develop skills in industry-leading mining software and analytical tools.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (completed, or graduating soon).
Strong academic performance.
Eligibility to work in Australia.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to learn new software and technical concepts quickly.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Interest in consulting and working across a variety of mining methods and commodities.
Exposure to pit optimisation and/or enterprise optimisation software is advantageous.
Exposure to mine planning and design software is advantageous.
Exposure to mine scheduling software is advantageous.
Exposure to data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI or Python is advantageous.
Vacation work, internships, or practical mining experience is advantageous.
Understanding of open pit and/or underground mining methods is advantageous.
