About the Role
As a Bookkeeper (m/f/d) in our Finance department, you will ensure reliable, structured, and proper financial accounting together with the Finance team. You will be responsible for ongoing bookkeeping and posting to the general ledger, actively participating in monthly and annual financial statements according to HGB. You will work closely with the Head of Finance, the Finance team, our foreign subsidiaries, tax advisors, and auditors.
Responsibilities
- Take over ongoing bookkeeping and posting/maintenance of the general ledger according to HGB.
- Record, check, and post business transactions considering commercial and tax regulations.
- Perform account reconciliations and clarifications, ensuring completeness and accuracy of postings.
- Monitor open items and assist in resolving discrepancies.
- Post and control general ledger accounts, debtor and creditor accounts, as well as bank and cash transactions.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank, intercompany, clearing, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor and process accruals, provisions, and other period-specific postings.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB.
- Make closing entries such as deferred expenses, provisions, depreciation, and other period-specific accruals.
- Support the reconciliation and documentation of balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure completeness and plausibility of accounting during the monthly closing process.
- Prepare relevant documents and analyses for tax advisors and auditors.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statement documents and respond to inquiries during the audit.
- Assist with processing and posting incoming and outgoing invoices.
- Monitor and clarify open items in the debtor and creditor areas.
- Assist with the reconciliation of payment transactions and bank accounts.
- Handle bookkeeping questions regarding invoices, credit notes, and incoming payments.
- Ensure that documents and booking records are complete and properly documented.
- Assist with the preparation and creation of VAT pre-declarations and other tax notifications.
- Coordinate with tax advisors on tax-related matters.
- Ensure correct bookkeeping of VAT, input tax, and intra-community transactions.
- Support the preparation of documents for tax and operational audits.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations with national and international subsidiaries.
- Assist with the reconciliation and posting of intra-group transactions.
- Support the bookkeeping treatment of international business transactions and ensure their correct recording.
- Participate in the further development of standardized processes for international Finance operations.
- Support the continuous optimization and standardization of bookkeeping processes.
- Identify potential improvements and support the automation of recurring bookkeeping processes.
- Work with modern Finance and ERP systems, contributing to high data quality and process security.
- Support the further development of our Finance system landscape and interfaces.
Requirements
- Completed commercial apprenticeship, ideally as a financial bookkeeper (m/f/d), or a comparable qualification.
- Relevant professional experience in financial accounting, ideally in an internationally active company.
- Good knowledge of German accounting according to HGB and a solid understanding of relevant tax basics.
- Experience in general ledger accounting and with monthly and annual financial statements.
- Very careful, structured, and reliable work style with a strong understanding of numbers.
- Good Excel skills and ideally experience with ERP and accounting systems.
- Enjoy analyzing issues, uncovering discrepancies, and independently finding solutions.
- Independent and responsible work ethic, maintaining an overview even under high workload.
- High affinity for digital tools and interest in continuous process improvement.
- Confident communication in German and good command of English.
- Team player with enjoyment in collaborating with different departments and external partners.
