About the Role
Build scalable software solutions that help protect one of Australia's largest technology environments. Develop APIs, automation and cloud-native services solving complex security challenges. Work with modern engineering practices and emerging technologies across Group Security.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and support scalable APIs, automation services and software solutions
- Develop solutions that address complex security and operational challenges across the organisation
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to testing, deployment and production support
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code using modern engineering practices
- Champion engineering best practices across testing, CI/CD, observability and operational support
- Contribute to improving reliability, performance and maintainability across engineering solutions
- Participate in code reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Help identify and resolve recurring technical issues
- Work closely with engineers, product owners and security teams to deliver impactful solutions
- Investigate complex technical challenges and contribute innovative approaches to solving them
- Support engineering discussions around architecture, design and delivery decisions
- Collaborate across squads to share knowledge and improve outcomes
- Stay current with emerging technologies, engineering trends and modern development practices
- Explore opportunities to apply automation and AI-driven tools to improve engineering outcomes
- Contribute ideas that improve processes, tooling and operational efficiency
- Demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies when required.
Requirements
- Strong full-stack software engineering experience with deep backend engineering expertise
- Experience building and supporting software across the full development lifecycle, from design and development through to testing, deployment and production support
- Experience designing and building APIs, automation solutions or distributed systems
- Solid programming experience in Python or similar modern programming languages
- Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, testing and deployment automation
- Experience working in Agile teams and contributing to end-to-end delivery
- Strong problem-solving capability and a passion for continuous improvement
- Learning agility and curiosity, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and unfamiliar challenges
- Experience in cyber security, security engineering, incident response or related environments will be highly regarded but is not essential.
