About the Role

This Legal Intern position supports NBCUniversal's Australia, New Zealand, and Asia channels businesses, working with the Legal and Business Affairs team on various legal, compliance, and business affairs matters in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Research key legal developments and prepare briefing notes for the NBCU legal team.
  • Review contracts, including program licenses, research, marketing, and general services agreements.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the NBCU contract database.
  • Support company administration and corporate secretarial document and compliance matters.
  • Assist in drafting policies and training materials, and in providing staff training sessions.
  • Support rights clearance matters, preparation of crew and participant releases, and administration of marketing competitions and related initiatives.
  • Perform ad hoc filing, administrative, and general team-support responsibilities.
  • Liaise with external customers as required.

Requirements

  • Experience in preparing written legal advice, acquired on-the-job or through coursework.
  • General understanding of contract terms (e.g., payment terms, SLAs, termination clauses).
  • Comfortable using word processing software, including Microsoft Word.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work autonomously.
  • Passion for the law and strong interest in television and film industries.
  • Ethical and responsible, leading by exhibiting honesty, fairness, and diligence.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be enrolled in studies for the full duration of the internship.
  • Must include a cover letter outlining expected graduation month/year, interest in NBCUniversal, and strengths/skills/experiences to bring to the role.
