About the Role
The Schools Participation Coordinator plays an important role in growing Australian Rules football and creating positive experiences for children and young people across Greater Sydney. This is a Maximum Term position for 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver safe, inclusive and enjoyable football experiences while supporting schools, clubs and community partners to grow participation across Greater Sydney.
- Deliver AFL programmes in schools and after-school settings, including curriculum-linked activities, School Competitions, Auskick, Superkick, AFL NINES and all-abilities programmes.
- Support junior clubs and Auskick and Superkick centres with participant recruitment, volunteers, coaching, protocols, promotion and venue hire.
- Drive programme bookings and contribute to participation growth across Greater Sydney.
- Deliver programmes in line with the relevant curriculum and create safe, friendly and enjoyable experiences for every participant.
- Conduct school assemblies and other promotional activities that encourage children and young people to get involved.
- Build productive relationships with teachers, schools and other programme stakeholders.
- Coordinate AFL player visits and fan engagement activities.
- Complete programme administration accurately and efficiently.
- Contribute to shared priorities and the success of the broader team.
Requirements
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to engage confidently and appropriately with schools, teachers, volunteers and community stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and administrative capability, supported by close attention to detail.
- The initiative and judgement to work effectively with limited supervision.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- A process-focused approach that supports consistent and reliable programme delivery.
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively under pressure.
- A commitment to creating safe, inclusive and positive experiences for children and young people.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to broader team outcomes.
- A valid employee Working with Children/Vulnerable People check.
- A satisfactory criminal history record check.
