About the Role
Woolpert is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position supports full-time in-person, hybrid, or remote working arrangements. The role involves leading engineering projects, supporting strategic goals, contributing to proposals, overseeing project scope, schedule, and fee, and ensuring effective resource allocation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. This role includes performing complex electrical engineering technical work, mentoring staff, and designing, analyzing, and reviewing building electrical systems for safety, sustainability, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering technical work for complex projects.
- Track project progress, including scope, schedule, and fee.
- Oversee technical review and provide high quality deliverables.
- Provide team guidance on electrical engineering systems and components.
- Provide team guidance on electrical design for various systems including medium-voltage distribution, microgrids, photovoltaic, battery systems, building power systems, lighting design, and low voltage systems.
- Provide team guidance on electrical calculations including SKM analysis, arc flash, and photometric calculations.
- Support career development and technical skill advancement of team members.
- Motivate and inspire team members.
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative team culture with a focus on innovation and excellence.
- Manage project and staffing plans, adjusting them as necessary.
- Oversee engineering project phases from initiation to completion.
- Serve as a technical expert and discipline representative at various meetings and events.
- Deliver presentations at conferences, networking events, and professional organizations.
- Conduct training sessions for internal employees.
Requirements
- BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and fifteen (15) years related experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience leading engineering projects.
- Experience in building power systems, lighting design, medium-voltage distribution, SKM analysis, and photometric calculations.
- Experience with building electrical system design for commercial, mixed-use, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise preferred.
- Experience designing sustainable building systems, including familiarity with LEED, Green Building Institute, or other sustainability credentialing.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Expert verbal and written communication abilities for both internal and external relationships.
- Experience with discipline related software applications and calculation tools.
- Substantial experience designing in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and directing the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience conducting and leading QAQC and coordination of design documents between disciplines.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to provide effective responses to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
- Able to write technical opinions, articles, and thought leadership social media using original or innovative techniques or style.
- Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.
- Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.
