About the Role
Designs and implements integrated weed management (IWM) strategies to protect sugarcane yield. Evaluates herbicide efficacy, weed biology, and develops sustainable cultural and mechanical practices that minimize crop-weed competition while protecting the local environment. Plays a critical role in controlling sugarcane flowering, preventing it in commercial fields to avoid severe sucrose yield losses.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and studies herbicide-resistant weeds, ensuring chemical programs rotate active ingredients effectively.
- Identifies and maps problematic weed species in sugarcane estates, tracking changes in weed population dynamics and species shifts over time.
- Develops and oversees the application of flowering inhibitors such as Ethephon to prevent or reduce floral initiation in commercial fields.
- Collects biometric data during crop growth, analyzes field results using statistical software, and generates comprehensive reports for the Agronomy Manager.
- Trains farm managers and technicians on safe pesticide applications, equipment calibration, and safety protocols.
Requirements

- Any relevant professional certificate.
- 5+ years work experience.
