About the Role
As a Design Engineer, you will work directly with the CTO to own how intelligence becomes something engineers trust and use. You will own the surface where trust is won or lost, with a front-row seat to building a company from zero, engaging with product strategy, firm acquisitions, and architecture decisions.
Responsibilities
- Embed with staff at engineering firms alongside the founders to observe workflows and design/build solutions.
- Own the product surface end-to-end, including interaction design, prototyping, and shipping the production front-end.
- Establish and own the design system, including components, patterns, and primitives.
- Define interaction patterns for an AI-native platform, addressing streaming, latency, human-in-the-loop review, provenance, citations, and agent behavior transparency.
- Collaborate directly with the CTO on product direction, culture, and future development.
Requirements
- Strong design taste and engineering skills to ship production code (React/TypeScript or equivalent).
- Experience building and maintaining a design system used by multiple products or teams.
- Experience designing UX for AI-native products, comfortable with non-determinism, streaming output, uncertainty, agentic flows, and earning user trust in machine output.
- Deep curiosity for how things work (organizations, workflows, markets).
- Willingness to expose ignorance and ask 'why'.
- Poise and communication skills to earn trust with non-tech professionals.
- Ability to distill noisy, conflicting user feedback into clear product opinions.
- Willingness to travel.
- Willingness to perform any task, from drawing icons to observing users.
