About the Role
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the common areas and tenant apartments of residential buildings, contributing to Breaking Ground's mission of ending homelessness by providing safe and clean living environments.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, wash, dust, and vacuum common areas and tenant apartments.
- Seal, wax, and buff floors and hard surfaces.
- Maintain sidewalks, including sweeping, raking leaves, and shoveling snow.
- Clean individual units when vacated or requested by work order.
- Sort and package recyclables to comply with NYC regulations.
- Operate compactor.
- Set up and clean up for meetings and other events.
- Assist painters and engineers when assigned.
- Perform work at other facilities as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Comparable work experience.
- Experience operating a vacuum cleaner and high-speed buffer.
- Ability to lift and move furniture, appliances, etc.
- Ability to stand for several hours during shift and to climb stairs in the event of an emergency.
- Experience working with special needs populations is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of using a computer is a plus, but not required.
