About the Role
Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, designing, and installing electrical equipment. This role focuses on improving predictive and preventive electrical maintenance while reducing reactive situations and providing operational support.
Responsibilities
- Perform layout, installation, repair, programming, maintenance, and replacement of electrical components, PLC components, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and electronic circuits.
- Read and understand blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and equipment cut sheets.
- Run wire, cable, and conduit; connect power sources; and install switch panels, junction boxes, and control panels.
- Repair, maintain, and overhaul equipment, control panels, building structures, and machinery.
- Diagnose electrical problems and implement corrective actions.
- Respond to call-outs as needed to ensure operational equipment uptime.
- Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components, recording performance using appropriate electrical equipment.
- Perform various mechanical tasks.
- Requisition necessary parts and supplies or inform supervisor of needs exceeding authority level.
- Apply electronic theory and principles to design, build, or modify equipment.
- Operate computer programs and applications proficiently.
- Attend and complete all necessary training, including PLC and VFD training.
- Instruct or assist in the training of others.
- Assist with special projects.
- Perform project-related work to achieve location goals.
- Provide technical assistance and support for plant problem-solving activities.
- Analyze equipment failures, investigate problems, and offer solutions.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical components and electronic circuits in PLC and VFD controls for various equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical repair manuals, structural drawings, technical procedures, and safety manuals.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills for plant electrical issues and effectively utilize computer applications.
- Parallel all rolls and make required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance.
- Teach other maintenance classifications proper maintenance procedures.
- Utilize all aspects of the maintenance SAP software program.
- Follow up on all work to ensure proper repairs.
- Maximize equipment utilization by maintaining machinery for available capacity and speed.
- Complete all paperwork accurately and in accordance with company guidelines.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
- Two years of Electrical Degree and two years of Industrial Electrical Experience, OR five years of Industrial Electrical Experience without a degree.
- Electrical and mechanical experience REQUIRED.
- Candidate preferred who has prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
- Able to apply concepts of high school math.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, product layouts, production specifications, product quality specifications, and quality standards.
- May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 to 60 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Must possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts.
