About the Role

Schwab is seeking an outcome-driven, results-oriented, and organized data technology leader to join our team. This role involves re-architecting and rebuilding our core enterprise data platform to support business evolution. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on lead engineer with technical and business acumen, passionate about developing high-quality, scalable solutions. You will lead a team of engineers focused on system health and timely software release delivery. This position is part of the Operational Data Exchange (ODX) Technology team, focusing on providing operational intelligence and insights through a world-class Data Exchange (DX) platform. The role is for someone passionate about understanding corporate systems, building a solid team, streamlining existing systems, and developing a future-state data platform crucial for client-centricity, reduced time to market, and increased efficiency. Ideal candidates enjoy creating structure in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and embrace change.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic, technical, and project leadership to data pipeline development.
Understand business needs and align solutions to drive delivery.
Drive Agile development supporting organizational priorities and innovation.
Provide hands-on development and mentoring to ensure team and project success.
Drive outcomes and team performance, collaborate to achieve results, and think strategically.
Collaborate with development, product owner, and team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks.
Navigate cross-functional communication to ensure alignment between and within teams.
Cultivate a culture of open feedback that promotes accountability for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with shared functions to support application support and automation for deployments.
Interface with product owner and key stakeholders to ensure high-quality software project delivery on time and on budget.
Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans.
Create and maintain artifacts for production support and deployment processes.
Meet periodically with onshore and offshore developers and application support to review and improve processes.

Requirements

Expertise in ETL development, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Quality, Best Practices, and Exception Handling.
Proficiency in SQL, Google Cloud Products (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Composer, Pub/Sub), and SQL Server Integration Services.
Expertise in Informatica (IDMC/IICS) and Python coding skills.
Experience using AI in the development lifecycle for efficiency gains.
Business Analysis experience for data analysis and guiding analysts to translate business requirements to data mapping.
Exceptional track record in delivering results and business outcomes.
Master's or bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a similar/equivalent area of study.
Minimum of 5 years working in the financial services industry.
Minimum of 10-12 years of solid data engineering experience.
Minimum of 3 years of strategic project leadership and delivery experience in a matrixed organization.
Strong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions, fact/dimension modeling) and Operational Data Exchanges/Stores.
Solid understanding of data lifecycle, metadata management, and governance standards.
Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and Guidelines.
Willingness to learn new skills and keep up with technology changes.
Demonstrated ability to disagree, debate with data, and commit to delivery regardless of the outcome.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical presentations and documentation.
Prior experience working with vendor resources in an onshore-offshore model and driving delivery and collaboration.
Experience implementing data security controls and access management policies.
